Former 'Princess of Pop' Britney Jean Spears has dispelled rumours that she is making a musical comeback.

The mother of 2 maintained that although music is still her pride and joy she is currently enjoying time away from the limelight and currently has no plans of going back to the spotlight.

Since being released from her conservatorship back in 2021, which controlled almost every aspect of her life for 13 years her multitude of fans have been waiting for her to release a new album but the wait might end up being much much longer than they anticipated.

Britney fans might want to borrow a life from Rihanna's fans and how they survived for years on end holding onto a wicker of hope.

Through her socials, the 'Toxic' hitmaker admitted that she has no interest in returning to the music industry

"Just so we're clear most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I'm turning to random people to do a new album I will never return to the music industry !!!" Spears wrote in part.

She went on to highlight that she was still working on music but as a ghost writer for other Hollywood A-listers.

"When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people," the 42-year-old noted before adding that she'd ghostwritten over 20 songs in the past two years.

The former pop sensation stopped making music due to the conservatorship was was in (under her dad). Britney noted she felt the conservatorship was killing her dreams and suffocating her as she lacked creative freedom and was more or less treated like a puppet.

Being released from the conservatorship meant the star could once again take control of her finances, career and personal life, and would no longer have to pay a team of professionals and lawyers to oversee her affairs.

Interestingly, last year Britney Spears released her first new music since being released from a conservatorship that controlled almost every aspect of her life.

The song, dubbed 'Hold Me Closer 'is a duet with Sir Elton John which marked Britney's return to music after a six-year hiatus.

"It's pretty damn cool that I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time, I'm kinda overwhelmed... it's a big deal to me!" She said ahead of the release.
