Former radio presenter Joyce Gituro was sworn in as the Chief Officer of Public Communications and E-government for Machakos County on Monday.

The ceremony followed her successful vetting and approval by the County Assembly of Machakos.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti attended the ceremony, which also saw two other chief officers take their oaths.

These officers are Francis Munyambu, Chief Officer of Inspectorate and Emergency Services, and Dr. Juliana Ndunge, Chief Officer of Sewerage, Sanitation, and Waste Management.

Governor Ndeti expressed her support for the newly appointed officers, saying, "I take the opportunity to wish them the very best, God's guidance, and wisdom as they serve the great people of Machakos County in fulfilling our Clarion call, Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni."

The appointments were officially announced by the governor on June 21, 2024.

Joyce Gituro has an extensive background in media, having worked at Royal Media Services for over 15 years.

She started as an On-Air Host and progressed to become a Transmission Controller at Radio Citizen, eventually becoming a Brand Manager.

In 2018, she joined Mediamax Network as Head of Programs, overseeing six radio stations, before leaving in 2019.

She later joined Radio Jambo in 2020 as the host of the Sunday show 'Injili Jumapili' (Gospel Sunday), before eventually leaving to focus on business.
