Adam Levine fired up his social media to criticize the MTV Video Music Awards nominations - then found himself having to delete and apologize for his post.
His original upload had ferociously denounced the awards show for not nominating Childish Gambino's This Is America video.
However, the 39-year-old had to scrap that post when he discovered, as he wrote later: '"This Is America" actually WAS nominated for 7 VMAs.'
Adam's original post read: 'This year, Childish Gambino released one of the most impactful, thought provoking and intelligent videos ever made.'
The post went on: 'I'm sure he doesn't care that he wasn't nominated for a VMA because he's cool as f*** and everything. But I care. Because I'm NOT that cool.'
Fully exposing his blistering anger, the Maroon 5 singer closed: 'And I still want MTV to mean something again. But it won't. Ever. K bye.'
In his subsequently apology post, he began: 'S***. I don't usually put my foot in my mouth. But this time I did,' then explained what his flub had been.
'How I didn't get the right info is beyond me. I stand corrected. I'm sorry MTV. Still hate you though. but Mostly... I'm Sorry.'
Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Donald Glover, gave his debut rendition of This Is America on Saturday Night Live this May, dropping the video on YouTube at the same time.
The video, a satire of racism and gun violence in the United States, earned a string of VMA nods including Video Of The Year, reported.
