Just after Kenyatta University was indefinitely shut down, Moi University has today followed suit with the same reason, unrest.

The Moi University Students Organisation (MUSO) on Wednesday issued a memo calling for peaceful gathering at the university's student's center.

According to the memo, the student leaders claimed they were left with no other option but to demonstrate after their efforts to engage with the university management on matters that were affecting the students failed.

They wanted issues such as the increase in supplementary exam fees, prohibition of cooking in hostels, redesigning of the school portal, among others.

The peaceful gathering seemed to have turned out to something else and according to The Moi University Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the students destroyed property and even injured university officers. These acts have forced him to indefinitely suspend academic programmes at the main campus.

This has got so many students worried that a course that is supposed to take four years could be extended to seven years because of such drastic measures.
