Former Churchill Show comedian Fred Omondi has died, police have said.

Fred, brother to popular comedian-cum-activist Eric Omondi, died in a road accident on Kagundo Road Saturday morning.

Police said the accident happened after a bodaboda carrying Fred was involved in a head-on collision with a speeding bus around 6 am.

"The accident happened near Caltex Petrol station on Kagundo Road,"  a police report filed at Buruburu station stated.

The report further said that the bus was heading to Nairobi CBD from Kayole while the bodaboda was heading in the opposite direction and was on the wrong side of the road.

As a result, the rider collided head-on with the speeding bus. Police said Fred Omondi died on the spot.

The rider suffered serious multiple injuries on both legs and fractured his two hands.

The rider was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for medication. Fred's body is at the same hospital's morgue.

Friends and celebrities who performed with him trooped to social media to mourn his death.

Comedian Terrence Creative while mourning him said he received a call at 6 am Saturday informing him of his death.

"Fred I thank God for the time He gave us together bro, you’ve been part of my career and growth in the industry. You always treated me as a brother and hosted me when I had nowhere to go," Terrence said.

"You gave me a stage and paid me, and together we started club comedy shows. I will always treasure the moment we shared the stage."

Politician Millicent Omanga, expressed her condolences on X, stating:

"The creative industry has lost a gem. Fred Omondi brightened our living rooms with his addictive comedy renditions. That he has tragically lost his life in a road accident is heart-rending. I commiserate with his family, friends, and his fans. May his soul find perfect peace."
