"Hodari" hitmaker Mbosso barely 2 weeks after he was forced to postpone his US tour has opened up about an illness that he and a few other family members suffer from.

In an interview with BBC, the Tanzanian bongo artist that he as well as his mother, sibling, and auntie all suffer from arteriosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis is a heart problem brought about by (though can affect other arteries as well) the build-up of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls. This build-up is called plaque.

The plaque can cause arteries to narrow, blocking blood flow. The plaque can also burst, leading to a blood clot.

In the interview, the melodious singer highlighted that he'd been well up until he was 27 years old. That is when he realized he had the family's illness as well.

“I was told that the blood vessels from my heart that transported blood to other parts of my body were blocked with fat such that it is unable to work properly,”  Mbosso revealed.

He went on to add how the illness sometimes puts his career in jeopardy due to some of the symptoms he experiences.

For example, he told the interviewer that sometimes he trembles to the point that his hands cannot hold anything as things just fall from his hands.

Adding that he also feels intense pain both at night and during the day plus being numb.

“I recall there was a time I was supposed to do a show in Mbeya that I was meant to perform with my guitar, and I was unable to because my hands trembling so much,” Mbosso revealed.

Adding that on top of his narrow arteries he also had early signs of diabetes.

“I was also told I had symptoms of diabetes and I should try regulating it so much so that I do not drink tea with sugar, or drink soda but only take freshly squeezed juice from fruits.

Luckily Atherosclerosis can be treated, and a healthy lifestyle is an at-home method of trying to beat it.
