American rapper Young Thug's RICO trial is about to get started and things aren't looking good.

The judge hearing the case has just given the go ahead for prosecutors to use the rappers lyrics as evidence backing their case.

Come Monday opening arguments for Thugger's case are scheduled to kick off in Fulton County and the rapper is facing serious charges including conspiracy, participating in criminal street gang activity, possession of a firearm and controlled substances charges, among others.

The whole time Young Thug has maintained that he is not guilty and his defence attorney insists his name will be cleared through the proceedings.

It is still unclear which lyrics exactly are going to be mentioned but some of the songs prosecutors are looking to use have been revealed.

These include Young Thug's 2018 hit, "Anybody," plus tracks from YSL's 2020 compilation album like

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail, he has said nothing and is not cooperating.

His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”

"Take it to Trial," "Ski" and "Slatty."

Prosecutors allege YSL members, including Thug, explicitly refer to criminal activity in those tracks.

The go ahead from the judge has caused a lot of outrage, with some arguing that rap lyrics shouldn't be allowed as evidence in the case sighting that they often blur the lines between artistic expression and reality.

This comes in just 3 weeks after his best friend/ fellow rapper Sergio Giavanni Kitchens popularly known as Gunna was released from Fulton County jail after 7 months of being incarcerated.

The 29-year-old was set free after pleading guilty to conspiring to violate Georgia’s RICO Act after entering an Alford plea.

An Alford plea is a negotiated agreement that allows a defendant to maintain their innocence with the understanding that the evidence gathered by the prosecution would likely result in a guilty verdict.

He was sentenced to 5 years with one year credit for time served. The remaining 4 years were suspended, so no more time behind bars if he stays out of trouble

However, following his release social media streets have been crazy with conspiracies seeing as Yung Thug and other YSL Members are still behind bars.

Netizens are certain that Gunna snitched on Thuga and his fellow YSL members.

Rumour mills have been spinning alleging that Gunna cut a deal for himself to snitch on his gang for his freedom.

However, his lawyer has now come out to defend him highlighting that Gunna has said nothing all through and that ain't changing.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail, he has said nothing and is not cooperating.

His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.” His lawyer, attorney Steve wrote.

Now to wait and see how the case plays out and if Yung Thugs defence team can prove his innocence.
