On today's morning show Chito and Kwambox talked about giving a name to a unified East African currency.

This comes after the EAC secretariat dismissed reports of a unified regional currency late on Sunday, saying "the creation of a single East African currency is still a work in progress”.

Giving a brief history of how trading started in East Africa and how it all started with barter trade, she said, "So I'll give you this tissue you give me that bottle, that's what's called barter trade," Kwambox started.

"Kidogo kidogo we moved to cowry shells that was a form of cash alafu tukaingia shillings! actually, I think there was something before the shillings," she continued.

"All around East Africa, you find the country having their form of currency, Now East Africa is talking about having a common currency. First of all mimi, I was a lowkey disappointed," Chito shared his thoughts.

He went on to add,  "We should shillingify this thing we already have  Kenya shilling, Tanzania shilling, Rwanda, and Burundi those are already landlocked countries, they're already inside Tanzania wata kuwa tu sawa watafuata tu."

"When was the last time you said give me something shilling?" Kwambox asked Chito.

Kwambox explained to Chito how even the currency doesn't allow " Mashillingi" adding the 'mashilingi' are ringworms.

Chito argued we should start with what we already have as a "common denominator" saying we should start with the shilling and as we progress.

"This morning, I know we are creative, let's come up with a name for this, this thing, yeah for East Africa," Kwambox suggested.

"Si we just call it The EA," Chito gave out his idea.

If we were to have a unified currency "na usituambie mashillingi apa" what would we call it?

We'd love to hear your thoughts on some amazing names.
