Kate actress pens a special 6-pointer prayer for her son as he turns 18

Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau aka Kate Actress has penned a special prayer for her son as he turns 18.

In her message, Kate mentioned that she is grateful to God for getting her son to a big age – 18.

"I am extremely emotional today πŸ˜”, Happy 18th my big baby. With everything that is happening around us,πŸ˜” mothers losing their innocent sons to police brutality & other injustices a black boy child is subjected to in today’s society, I just want to hold you a little closer today, with so much gratitude to God for getting you to this big Age. We did it, my boy. Happy Birthday my heart πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½" Kate Actress shared.

The mother of two went on to write a prayer for her son –asking God to keep him safe, make wise choices, be a man of character, and surround him with good people.

Here is the 6-pointer prayer

Prayer for My Son

Lord, I'm praying for my boy today.

Thank You for giving him to me, and for the privilege of being his parent. I've got some things on my heart, and I'm bringing these requests to You now. Thank You that You hear and answer prayer.

Please keep him safe.

Protect him from physical danger, emotional harm, and spiritual attacks. Put Your angels around him so that he is always sheltered in Your care. Guard his mind, his eyes, and his steps.

Help him make wise choices.

Give him the courage to choose paths that will lead to a long life, joy, and Your purposes for him. Give him eyes to see the consequences to his actions well ahead of time-so he can avoid temptation and pursue what is good.

May he be a man of character?

Help him to be honest, kind, generous, and unselfish. May he be trustworthy and resilient, be willing to work hard, and ready to take responsibility for his decisions. Give him the ability to see the best in people and circumstances, and to find strength in the face of adversity.

Surround him with good people.

Provide friends who encourage him, understand him, and have a positive influence on him. Help him to walk away from relationships that tear down his self-worth, or cause him to make poor choices. Give him mentors; people he can trust, those he can emulate. He needs godly role models, and I ask You to provide them for him.

Give my son a heart for You.

I know that he will make mistakes and that he will have struggles. This is part of life, and part of what will prepare him for adulthood. But through these experiences, would You speak to him, and show him that You are for him? May he learn to love You in the Quiet, and seek Your peace in the midst of a noisy world. Help him to see You in the everyday moments of his life.

I commit this young man to You.

There is so much I can't control now that he is this age, but I know I can always come to You with my requests, and I can relinquish my worries to You. I thank You for peace, and freedom from fear, because Your perfect love casts out all fear. I stand on Your promise that You will complete the good work that You have started in my son, and You will always love this beautiful gift You've given me, even more than I could ever do.

Amen

In an interview on Churchill show, the mother of two recalls how her mother was strict, hence she had no freedom to interact with the opposite gender.

"My mum is very strict, so we did not mingle with boys as such. I went to an all girls boarding school."

She later went to college in Kampala, where she experienced freedom.

"Here I am, we are in class with boys..our dormitories were separated but by the end of the day, we had already mingled. It was like freedom, I can go out... within three months I was pregnant," Kate recalled.

"I never understood anything about contraceptives...you learn about that in class but you don't really think you need them. I went for a morning-after pill after 3 weeks."

She says breaking the news to her parents was difficult since her mother had taken a loan of KSh 400,000 to educate her.

"Before the day she came back, I wrote her a very long letter and then disappeared to my friend's place for a week. She was shocked..she asked me to go back home. I never want to see my parents that disappointed...it was really bad," Kate shared.
